Job Description
Climate Investment Team: targets investments in Decarbonization (i.e. AgTech; Alternative Energy; Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage; Carbon Markets; Circular Economy; Energy Efficiency; Sustainable Materials and Sustainable Energy) and Natural Capital (i.e. Farmland, Timberland and Water). Our investments mitigate global carbon emissions and help society to adapt and become more resilient to a warming world. The Climate Investment Team targets investments in private equity, growth equity, venture capital and real assets. We consider fund and co-investments and will selectively pursue direct investments. Allstate’s existing Climate Investments portfolio is ~$1B+ and we target investment production of between $100 – 200M per year. Each individual investment is sized between $25 – 50M
The Climate Investment Intern will be responsible for assisting in various phases of investing and monitoring the Climate Investment Team’s portfolio of investments. You will be responsible for working with team members to research key components of the industries and technologies we are targeting for investment. Investments in Decarbonization and Natural Capital are important components to Allstate’s long-term strategy to broaden our impact investment portfolio to include higher and more stable returning but differentiated investment products. With that goal in mind, the Climate Investment Team is looking for a talented individual with an interest in helping us target attractive climate investments and manage our existing climate investment portfolio.
Qualifications
Currently a Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree with expected graduation in Winter 24’ or Spring 25’
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Possess an understanding of financial business acumen and project management skills
Course work in agriculture, forestry, energy, environmental studies, sustainability, water, economics and/or finance will be given extra consideration
Must be located in the Chicagoland area and able to commit to our hybrid work schedule
Compensation offered for this role is between $23 and $32 an hour and is based on experience and qualifications.
