What to expect:
A comprehensive internship program observing and participating in all areas of patient care involved in outpatient cardiac rehab. Gain experience working with a team of clinical exercise physiologists and learn how to effectively prescribe exercise protocols for cardiac patients, accurately obtain vitals, confidently evaluate EKGs, and more!
The cardiac rehab team will assist you with completing case studies, end of the year presentation, and educational topics that you will present to patients.
Broaden your scope of what cardiac patients go through before enrolling into cardiac rehab by shadowing heart cath lab, stress testing, echocardiograms, cardiology clinic, dietician, and pulmonary rehab.
Requirements:
Must be enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program in the Exercise Science field
Feel comfortable explaining basic exercise physiology concepts
Know how to take manual blood pressures (rest and exercise)
BLS certification
Preferred experience:
Completion of exercise physiology lab
Completion of course work pertaining to exercise prescription, exercise physiology, clinical populations, EKG interpretation
Experience conducting exercise testing
