Job Summary
This position exists to perform a combined project manager/technical review role for the Voluntary Investigation and Cleanup (VIC) unit. The incumbent will provide technical oversight of environmental investigation and cleanup activities in support of property transfers and redevelopment projects at brownfield sites and will provide guidance to program applicants and their representatives to help their project proceed smoothly through the VIC process.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an earth science field and two years of professional experience applying earth science knowledge to environmental investigation and cleanup projects.
OR
Three years professional-level experience applying earth science knowledge to environmental investigation and cleanup projects.
AND the ability to:
Independently complete assignments in a timely manner.
Understand environmental regulatory process and procedures.
Engage and communicate with diverse stakeholders and team members.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with environmental investigation, cleanup, and risk management at brownfield redevelopment sites
Ability to analyze and process large data sets using appropriate conceptual models.
Knowledge of federal, state and local environmental laws, rules, regulations and standards.
Experience working with diverse communities.
Customer service skills and abilities.
Experience working in teams and experience with conflict resolution.
Demonstrated ability to:
Bring projects to a satisfactory conclusion.
Establish and maintain good working relations with business partners through courteous and timely written and verbal communication
Make and document decisions with limited information.
Work effectively under pressure.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small equipment.
Additional Requirements
Position duties may require travel, but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position. Employees who may drive for state business will need their driver’s license checked prior to operating a state vehicle.
