Internships Expires August 31, 2022

Experience includes:

Interns will be learning proper safety procedures, diet preparation, feeding, cleaning, animal health, animal management, behavioral observations, and record keeping for large carnivores. Interns will assist with construction and habitat modification and related activities. Interns will also be involved with the volunteer program, and both formal and informal presentations. 3 month interns will be required to complete an enrichment project and 6 month interns will be required to complete both an enrichment project plus an additional project. Interns participate in short, weekly educational courses. We are willing to work with students to receive school credit.

All interns that complete the internship program will receive a certificate of completion. Interns will also have opportunities to receive feedback from the intern coordinator to go over progress throughout the internship and to go over the educational goals of the intern.

This is an unpaid internship. Free Housing and local vehicle access/use is provided.

**This is a strict no contact position**

Experience Required:

Candidates should have either 3 years of animal related experience or at least two years of undergraduate program studies in zoology, animal management, biology, or a related field. International applications are welcome. Interns must be able to perform regular, strenuous duties in over 100 degree weather and must be able to lift 50 lbs. You must present yourself in a professional manner.

Interns will be under the supervision of the Intern Manager, Michelle Biddle, throughout the internship program. Interns will also have the opportunity to receive an evaluation at the end of the first two weeks of training and at the end of the internship.

Spring 2023 Session (Feb 26 – May 26th)

Summer 2023 Session (May 28th – Aug 25th)

State your desired internship session in your cover letter and state if you are interested in the 3 month or 6 month program. If you have related internship or volunteer experience, we highly recommend including a letter of recommendation from that facility.
