An internship with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting.
This internship will assist with all functions of volunteer engagement. These tasks will include volunteer outreach, recruitment, communications, cultivation, and recognition for several Summer and Fall 2024 Bike MS Events in Texas. Will include some administrative, database management, and event production activities.
This is a remote paid internship available for Summer 2024.
What You Will Do:
Day to Day – 70% Volunteer Recruitment & Cultivation, 30% Volunteer Engagement Strategy
Specific Responsibilities – Developing outreach lists and making calls to potential volunteers, assisting VE staff with new volunteer group and individual recruitment, contacting prior volunteers, sign up page set up and maintenance and DWUI updates and maintenance, assisting with in-kind sponsorships related to volunteer engagement.
Learning Objectives – overall objective is to give intern a through overview of non-profit volunteer engagement work, most specifically related to fundraising events.
- 50% Gain relevant work experience in non-profit volunteer engagement field
- 25% Gain experience working within a team and committee environment
- 25% Opportunity to learn about multiple sclerosis and work with the leading national organization supporting people impacted by MS.
What You Will Bring:
Currently pursuing a degree as a Junior, or Senior in College or any year in graduate school
Open to all majors
Ability to work 12 weeks, 10-15 hours per week.
Minimum Experience:
Access to reliable internet (required for remote or hybrid positions)
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software for e-mail, document, and spreadsheet creation/management – specific training will be provided.
Outgoing, comfortable on the phone, a team player

The hourly rate for internships is $15, except when noted differently above OR where local minimum wage exceeds that figure, in which case the hourly rate will be the higher of the two.
